The town of Uppsala is located a 20 minute train ride away from the international airport Arlanda, and at only 40 minutes distance by train to our capitol city Stockholm.
UL (Uppsala Local Traffic):
When travelling from Arlanda to Uppsala, you can either take the train or the bus. While the train ride is shorter, it’s also more expensive.
The train station is located underground between terminals 4 and 5. To get access to the platform, a traveller must pay a passage fee of 120 SEK when arriving or leaving the airport. The train ticket is then bought for an additional 66 SEK. The train leaves every 30 minutes, and takes approximately 18 minutes to reach Uppsala Central Station.
If you travel by bus, the trip takes about 45 minutes or less depending on time of day. The bus leaves every 30 minutes. You take the 801 bus (bus stop located outside both (terminal 5 and terminal 2), fare is 66SEK.
SJ (Swedish Railways)
When travelling from Stockholm to Uppsala, you take the train from platform 3 at Stockholm Central Station. The train leaves every 30-60 minutes, and the train fare is 95 SEK (slightly less if you are below 19 years of age, or a student with valid Swedish student ID).
More information can be found at www.sj.se
(many regional trains pass Stockholm and Uppsala on their route, and you can therefore find other trains that leave other platforms at the same price, should you miss the one leaving from platform 3).
Should you happen to be close to a stop between Stockholm and Uppsala, you can take the train that will pass Arlanda on its way. This train takes 55 minutes from Stockholm Station to Uppsala Station and is more costly as you have to pay a fee to cross the county line. It’s really only a practical choice for members who are staying at the stops between Solna and Upplands Väsby, or Knivsta.
